SWBNO is now heavily reliant on Turbine 1 as one of the power sources needed to operate our drinking water, wastewater treatment and drainage systems. This machine is running around the clock, outside of maintenance. An additional piece of equipment called a "vacuum hog" is needed in order to keep Turbine 1 running and unfortunately makes the machine more noisy. While we recognize that this comes at an inconvenience to residents in the area, we need to run this turbine in order to provide critical services to the entire city. When Turbines 4 and 5 are back in service by early May and mid-June, respectively, it will greatly reduce our reliance on Turbine 1.
Additionally, we are also running our Electro-motive Diesel generators (EMDs) which also provide power to our system.
