Update: Precautionary boil water advisory for these areas remains in effect. Due to continued high demand and water leaks across the city, we are making adjustments at our Carrollton Water Treatment Plant. Pressures in these areas remain lower than normal and may drop below 20 psi again. As such we are continuing the precautionary BWA for these areas until such a time that the demand decreases.
The Sewerage & Water Board of New Orleans (SWBNO), in consultation with the Louisiana Department of Health (LDH), is testing water quality samples, which may take up to 24 hours to achieve results. Until clear test results are back, a precautionary boil water advisory (BWA) remains in effect for parts of New Orleans East and Venetian Isles which includes:
-New Orleans East: Chef Menteur Hwy from Jourdan Rd to Elaine St, Elaine St to Intracoastal Waterway, Intracoastal Waterway to Jourdan Rd
-New Orleans East: Hayne Blvd from Lucerne St to Wave Dr, Wave Dr to Morrison Ave, Morrison Ave from Wave Dr to Lucerne St, Lucerne St to Hayne Blvd
-New Orleans East: All of Venetian Isles
A map of the area currently under a precautionary boil water advisory is here.
Water pressures in this area fell below 20 pounds per square inch (psi) due to an increase in water usage to prevent residential pipe breaks and potential leaking pipes due to the freeze.
