Irrigation Meters
Irrigation Meter Process
Customers with outdoor irrigation systems may consider having a dedicated meter to serve the irrigation system. This would eliminate the monthly "sewer ready-to-serve fee" and the cost for "sewer volume charge". There are additional costs and fees related to plumbing changes to install a dedicated meter, but the costs may pay for themselves and save money over time.
Steps:
- 1. Contact SWBNO House Connections at (504) 585-2164 to request dedicated irrigation meter service.
- 2. House Connections provides a list of approved Licensed Master Plumbers (LMP)
- 3. Customer hires LMP who then applies for irrigation meter through City of New Orleans One Stop and pays permit fees.
-
4. The LMP provides the following completed documents:
- Service Cut Permit Application,
- Plan Drawing and Construction Schedule
- Construction cost estimate,
- Contractor's License and Certificate of Insurance
- 5. LMP pays fee to SWBNO equal to 20% of the construction cost estimate (subject to change based on complexity of project). Payment by check or money order to be made to SWBNO House Connections department.
- 6. LMP obtains meter from SWBNO
- 7. LMP installs meter, and contacts SWBNO for inspection.
- 8. SWBNO inspects and approves installation.
- 9. Customer will be billed monthly water ready-to-serve costs and volume through this meter, but no sewer ready-to-serve fee or volume charges.
