Starting Thursday, October 1st, Sewerage & Water Board of New Orleans (SWBNO) contactor, Roubion Construction, will temporarily close the 900 block of Decatur St at Dumaine St to facilitate restoration as part of the French Quarter Transmission Main project. Vehicular traffic will not be permitted access to N Peters St during this closure.
For all traffic interruptions, signage and traffic control measures such as barrels and fencing are onsite to direct drivers and pedestrians.
LOCATION: Crews are restoring the roadway on the 900 block of Decatur Street.
WORK SCHEDULE: The closure is expected to take 3 weeks, weather permitting.
TRAFFIC IMPACT:
- Decatur Street (river bound) traffic will be detoured to take Dumaine Street to Chartres St.
- N Peters St will be closed during this time to allow contractors to pour both sides of the roadway simultaneously.

About the Project
The replacement of the 24-inch water transmission main in the 900-1100 blocks of Decatur St. from Dumaine to Governor Nicholls Streets and the 600 block of St. Peter St. from Chartres to Royal Street is the seventh Transmission Water Main Replacement Project that SWBNO has replaced since 2018. This transmission main program is funded by FEMA and managed by SWBNO in cooperation with the City of New Orleans as part of the Joint Infrastructure Recovery Roads (JIRR) Program.
