Lower-than-Normal Pressure East of St Bernard Ave, Central Business District, 7th Ward, Treme and French Quarter; Update on 48-in Watermain Repair at Duels and Pauger St
For Immediate Release: Friday, November 6, 2026 12:55 PM
While investigating a leak on the 48-inch water transmission main at Duels and Pauger Streets, Sewerage & Water Board of New Orleans (SWBNO) crews determined that the extent of repairs on the transmission main were more extensive than originally anticipated. SWBNO and its contractor, Boh Bros., have mobilized resources and are actively working to complete the necessary repairs.
At this time, water pressures are lower-than-normal; however, water is safe to consume. Customers are not expected to lose water service entirely, but reduced water pressure will continue through Friday, November 13th. This impacts customers east of St Bernard Ave and downtown New Orleans.
We will continue to provide updates as repair activities progress and as additional information regarding the scope of repairs and customer impacts become available.
WHEN: Repairs began on Thursday, November 5 and will continue through Friday, November 13. Lower-than-normal pressure conditions will last through this time.
WHERE: Customers east of St Bernard Ave (Gentilly, Marigny, Bywater and the Lower Ninth Ward), as well as the 7th Ward, Treme, French Quarter, and Central Business District.
