For Immediate Release: Friday, January 23, 2026 12:59 PM

NEW ORLEANS, LA—On January 21, 2026, Sewerage and Water Boad of New Orleans (SWBNO) Board of Directors appointed Kaitlin Tymrak as Interim General Superintendent while the utility conducts a search for the permanent position.

Tymrak has served SWBNO as a dedicated public servant for over 5 years, most recently acting as the Deputy General Superintendent for Pumping and Power. In that capacity, she ushered along the Power Complex project since its inception, culminating in the successful launch of the critical electrical hub in December 2025.

“In my short time at SWBNO, Kaitlin has clearly distinguished herself as a strong and effective leader,” said Randy Hayman, SWBNO Executive Director. “I’m proud to see her step into the Interim General Superintendent role. She brings a proven track record, deep institutional knowledge, and an unwavering commitment to our staff and customers.”

“I have known Kaitlin for years in my capacity as a New Orleans City Councilmember, and I am confident she will provide steady leadership for the utility during this period of transition,” said Mayor Helena Moreno. “I’m both grateful and encouraged that one of my first actions as the new SWBNO Board President was appointing Kaitlin in this role.”

“Working for this utility and our dedicated staff has been the highlight of my career,” said Tymrak. “I’m eager for the opportunity to serve SWBNO and the city of New Orleans in this role. The people behind SWBNO are what make this city possible, and I’m appreciative and privileged to empower them during this transition.”

Tymrak succeeds Steve Nelson, who will continue to partner closely with SWBNO in his new role as Deputy Chief Administrative Officer of Infrastructure for the City of New Orleans.
