Statement from SWBNO on Third-Party Water Line Insurance Programs
For Immediate Release: Tuesday, December 17, 2024 4:15 PM
Recently, the Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans (SWBNO) became aware that some third-party companies are marketing unrelated insurance services to SWBNO customers after our recent notifications about lead, galvanized, and unknown water service lines. SWBNO is not affiliated with these companies, and we do not share customer information with them. All official communication about lead lines, inspections, and replacements will come directly from SWBNO. We do not endorse any of these companies.
If you receive any offers or communications regarding water or sewer line insurance programs, please verify their authenticity before taking any action. We encourage all residents to reach out to SWBNO directly at 52-WATER or LSLR@swbno.org for information about our lead line replacement program.
SWBNO is committed to replacing both public and private lead service lines across the city as part of our ongoing efforts to improve water quality and public health. SWBNO is not responsible for private water line repairs. However, to ease the burden of lead line replacements for our customers, SWBNO is actively working to secure funding and legislation to replace lead lines on private property.
We remain dedicated to our goal of removing lead service lines throughout the city, ensuring that all New Orleans residents have access to clean, safe drinking water. Visit swbno.org/Projects/LeadAwareness for more information about SWBNO's lead service line replacement program. Further information about lead service lines can be found at the EPA's website: https://www.epa.gov/ground-water-and-drinking-water/basic-information-about-lead-drinking-water#reducehome.
