The SWBNO’s Lead Line Replacement Program was implemented to comply with updated federal regulations for lead and drinking water. The goal is to ultimately replace lead service lines on both the public utility-owned property and on private customer-owned property. A service line is the portion of your piping that runs from the water main to your home or business. This is an enormous undertaking in a city as old and as large as New Orleans. We’ve reduced the number of lead service lines on the utility-owned side of the water system where possible over the years. However, completely eliminating lead service lines across the entire community will take a well-considered plan over many years. Therefore, the SWBNO has implemented a program for customers to request a water filter pitcher that filters for lead if they have concerns about lead and their drinking water. The form below is for requesting to pick up a water filter pitcher with a 6-month filter.
We have successfully completed the pilot portion of the Pitcher Distribution Program. The public response has been overwhelmingly positive. We are still accepting requests, but the distribution of pitchers will be postponed for 4 to 6 weeks while we are rebuilding supplies. If you have submitted a request already, please check your email for the status of your request.
