Kind of Work
This is lead level maintenance position at Sewerage & Water Board's Facilities Maintenance Division. An individual performs a variety of skilled construction, maintenance and repair tasks including pipe fitting, carpentry, meter repair and installations and repairs to pump systems and stations. Assigned tasks increase in scope and difficulty as the incumbent demonstrates the ability to perform the full-range of duties respective of this class.; and related work as required.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma. Original High School Diploma or Original G.E.D. Equivalency Diploma issued by a State Department of Education must be presented within two (2) weeks of application.
A valid Driver's License. Driver's license must be submitted within two (2) weeks of application
And Either: 3 years of construction or building maintenance experience Or: 3 years of construction or building maintenance experience with 12 months as a Utilities Maintenance Technician II Or: Eighteen (18) months of construction or building maintenance experience as a Utilities Maintenance Technician II with requisite training in Welding, Electrical, and/or Mechanical fields.
A letter from the appointing authority certifying applicant's experience and training in the required field.
Kind of Examination
A qualifying written test and rating of training and experience, weighted 100%. Credit will only be given for experience gained within the last ten (10) years. Applicants must pass the performance test in order to be rated on their experience.
The qualifying written examination is designed to measure mechanical aptitude.
This is an original entrance and promotional examination.
Existing employees will be exempted from the written test.
