Kind of Work
Supervisory field and station work assisting in the operation and maintenance of a City drainage or sewerage pumping system; and related work as required.
Minimum Qualifications
Permanent status as a Pumping and Power Plant Operator with the Sewerage and Water Board and at least four (4) years of experience in that classification in Drainage Pumping Operations.
Applicants must have experience in the operation of at least two (2) major drainage pumping stations.
Applicants must possess and maintain a current Louisiana driver's license.*
Applicants must have a high school diploma or G.E.D. Equivalency diploma, issued by a state department of education.*
Successful completion of the following training courses offered by the Department of Civil Service Growth and Development Division:
a) Effective People Skills (PDVP 930)
b) Conflict Management (SUPV 690)
c) Leadership (MGMT 830)
d) Sexual Harassment in the Workplace (SUPV 691)**This course has been replaced by
a one hour Preventing Sexual Harassment web based training course offered by the
State of Louisiana Civil Service Department. Employees must submit documentation of course completion.
* Prior to appointment, the hiring agency is required to verify education and valid current Louisiana driver's license claimed by the applicant to qualify for this classification. If selected for hire, applicants must provide original documents of their qualifying credentials to the hiring agency prior to their start date in this job classification.
Kind of Examination
A rating of training and experience, weighted 100%. All related previous experience will be considered for qualification purposes; however, credit on the rating of training and experience will only be given for experience gained within the last ten (10) years.
This is a departmental promotional examination limited to permanent employees of the Sewerage and Water Board.
