In consultation with the Louisiana Dept of Health, SWBNO has cancelled the boil water advisory for the West Bank except for the area bounded by the Westbank Expressway, General DeGaulle Dr, Behrman Pl & the parish line.
As a precaution to protect public health, a boil water advisory was issued for West Bank when the water main was damaged that resulted in an extended water outage on Sat, Aug 8. Initial samples from two locations in the Memorial Park neighborhood tested positive for E. coli bacteria & continue to test positive for coliform bacteria. E. coli & coliform bacteria indicate that other, potentially harmful, bacteria may be present. SWBNO has been & continues to flush fire hydrants in this area to remove any potential contamination & continues to test water quality. Results from the latest round of samples will be available on Tues, Aug 11.
While testing has passed for the majority of Westbank NO, some areas remain under boil water advisory and testing is underway. The limited parts that are still under boil water advisory includes:
