Erato St Sewer Relocation Traffic Advisory

On Monday, May 11th, Sewerage & Water Board of New Orleans (SWBNO) contactor, BLD Services, will begin a project to facilitate sewer main relocation on Erato St which will result in several road and lane closures in the nearby area throughout the duration of this project. In general, crews will work between 7 a.m. – 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. For all traffic interruptions, signage and traffic control measures such as barrels and fencing are onsite to direct drivers and pedestrians.

LOCATION:

  • Washington Ave (river bound) will have lane reductions in place from S Norman C Francis Pkwy to S Rendon St. Two-way vehicular traffic will be shifted into the lake bound lanes of Washington Ave.
    • Earhart Blvd will remain open throughout the project.
  • Northbound S Norman C Francis Pkwy will be closed from Earhart to Washington throughout the duration of this project.
    • Traffic will be routed to take Earhart Blvd to Calliope St and back to S Norman C Francis.
  • Erato St between Northbound Norman C Francis and Southbound Norman C Francis will be closed throughout the duration of this project due to the median being utilized for materials and storage. We have coordinated with the Dept of Parks and Parkways to accommodate this staging.
  • S Rendon St will be open to local traffic only.

WORK SCHEDULE: The sewer work is expected to last one year including restoration work.

TRAFFIC IMPACT: Crews are relocating a sewer force main on Erato St. Street closures and lane closures in the immediate area are necessary to facilitate the work.

What do residents need to do differently?

During this process, you may temporarily lose access to the driveway of your home. Barricades and detour signs will be present throughout the neighborhood to direct vehicle traffic. Please note that during this time, there may be large trucks and heavy equipment hauling materials in the area. We ask that residents please adhere to no parking signage on the streets. Vehicles parked in these zones will be ticketed and towed. Additional notice will be given to residents prior to work impacting driveway access. If you have mobility or medical issues where special accommodations are needed, please notify Sewerage & Water Board Community Outreach.

U.S. Postal Service and sanitation/recycling services will continue throughout construction; however, if your block is undergoing construction that limits roadway or driveway access, you may need to bring your garbage and recycling bins to the nearest accessible corner on your normal collection days. If you need assistance with this, please ask a Construction worker to assist you.
