Traffic Advisory: Intermittent Road Closures on the 1800 Block of Leonidas Street

New Orleans, La - The Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans (SWBNO) contractor, Wallace C Drennan, is scheduled to begin sewer main replacement work on Leonidas Street between Hickory Street and Cohn Street starting Wednesday, August 28, 2024. This work is being done as part of the Sanitary Sewer Evaluation and Rehabilitation Program (SSERP) under Contract 30257. The contractor will be replacing the sewer main and performing several sewer point repairs along the 1800 Block of Leonidas Street. 

Initial Work Phase:

  • Location: 1800 Block of Leonidas Street (downriver/city side) between Hickory and Cohn Streets
  • Work Description: Sewer main replacement and several point repairs
  • Work Schedule: The initial phase will occur on the downriver/city side of the 1800 Block of Leonidas Street. This phase is expected to take approximately 2 weeks.
  • Traffic Impact: The 1800 Block of Leonidas will be fully closed during the hours of 7am to 6pm and open to traffic after 6pm each workday.

Upcoming Work Phase:

  • Location: The 1800 Block of Leonidas Street, upriver side
  • Work Schedule: Details on the timing and duration of this phase will be provided several days before the work commences.
  • Traffic Impact: The 1800 Block of Leonidas Street will be closed to through traffic during this phase.
