Responsible supervisory and technical work involving the performance of specialized laboratory tests and examinations; and related work as required.
Minimum Qualifications
EITHER: Current permanent status as a Laboratory Technician I with the City of New Orleans, and one (1) year of full-time experience in that classification.
OR: A High School Diploma or G.E.D. Equivalency Diploma issued by a State Department of Education* and two (2) years of full-time experience working in a clinical or medical setting performing laboratory procedures, practices and testing required for the treatment of patients in the facility.
OR: Successful completion of sixty (60) semester hours from an accredited college or university, sixteen (16) of which must have been in chemistry and must have included laboratory course work. Official College Transcript must be presented to the New Orleans Civil Service Department within two (2) weeks of application.
* Prior to appointment, the hiring agency is required to verify education claimed by the applicant to qualify for this classification. If selected for hire, applicants must provide original documents of their qualifying credentials to the hiring agency prior to their start date in this job classification.
Kind of Examination
A rating of training and experience, weighted 100%.
All related previous experience will be considered for qualification purposes; however, credit on the rating of training and experience will only be given for related experience gained within the last ten (10) years.
