For Immediate Release: Monday, July 15, 2024 4:41 PM
NEW ORLEANS — Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans (SWBNO) crews have been working to repair a 20-inch water valve at S. Carrollton Ave. and Spruce St. which has temporarily closed a portion of the riverbound traffic on S. Carrollton Ave.
We understand that there is an increase of infrastructure upgrades ongoing in this area, including SWBNO Sewer System Evaluation & Rehabilitation (SSERP) and RoadworkNOLA infrastructure projects. The Traffic Control Plan now includes additional signage.
S. Carrollton Ave. is closed to vehicular traffic starting at Sycamore St. to Spruce St. with riverbound traffic being diverted to Dublin, where vehicular traffic can turn on Cohn St. to get back to S. Carrollton Ave.
On Monday, July 15, 2024, SWBNO crews completed a successful test closure and installed a line stop to isolate the 20-inch water main to begin repairs to the broken water valve. Crews will work to replace the water valve starting Tuesday, July 16. Paving restoration will commence immediately after the valve repair is deemed successful. Restoration is scheduled to be completed by July 26, weather permitting. Work is scheduled to be completed before Stuart Hall is back in session.
We appreciate your patience while we work to upgrade your infrastructure.
