Kind of Work
Technical and administrative work in coordinating a safety program that includes safety education and training, investigating accidents, and performing departmental safety inspections and related duties as required.
Examples of Work
· Maintains and updates departmental safety records.
· Prepares daily, monthly and annual reports concerning accidents.
· Keeps departmental safety manuals, library, and related materials up-to-date.
· Maintains departmental safety equipment.
· Identifies hazardous and unsafe working conditions through safety inspections of facilities and equipment, accident investigation and analysis of individual employee tasks.
· Implements and monitors safety rules and work practices.
· Conducts safety training/program for employees.
· Follows-up to confirm corrective actions have been taken.
· Inspects work areas, equipment, vehicles and other areas of high accident risk or unsafe work conditions.
· Consults with all levels of management on practices and techniques to eliminate accidents.
· Investigates complaints of hazardous working conditions and forwards reports to the Safety Administrator.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree* from an accredited college or university with a major in occupational safety, industrial management or technology, industrial engineering, safety management or a closely related field and one (1) year of full-time experience in the field of industrial or occupational safety or safety management.
OR
Bachelor's Degree* from an accredited college or university in any field and two (2) years of full-time experience in the field of industrial or occupational safety or safety management.

If selected for hire, applicants must provide original documents of their qualifying credentials to the hiring agency prior to their start date in this job classification.
Kind of Exam
A rating of training and experience, weighted 100%. All related previous experience will be considered for qualification purposes; however, credit on the rating of training and experience will only be given for experience gained within the last ten (10) years.
