December 8, 2005 - Drinking Water Update Boil Water Advisory Boil Water Advisory Lifted In New Orleans East - The Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans issues the following statement: The State Of Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals, Office of Public Health, has lifted the boil water advisory to New Orleans East. All of New Orleans East, Southshore and Venetian Isles no longer have to treat the tap water for safety. ( More)
November 2, 2005 - Algiers Water Treatment Plant Critical In Supplying Water To Private Industry - Sewerage and Water Board officials and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals will be available on Thursday November 3 at 1:00 p.m. to share with the media the critical role the Algiers Water Treatment Plant has maintained in post Hurricane Katrina operations. August 9, 2005 - Statement Regarding Water Odor - The Sewerage & Water Board of New Orleans said today that a musty odor and taste in the city's water supply are caused by an algae problem in the Mississippi River, where conditions at this time are conducive to algae growth. ( More )

June 6, 2005 - Statement Regarding Water Pressure By Marcia St. Martin, Executive Director - The Sewerage and Water Board said a power outage at 1:10 this afternoon, likely caused by a lightning strike, shut down four pumps which distribute water from the East Bank Water Treatment plant through large mains throughout the East Bank of the City. January 1, 2005 - SWB's Main Office Will Close at 4 p.m. Due To Parade Restrictions - The Sewerage and Water Board's Main Administration Building at 625 St. Joseph St., along with the Customer Service Lobby and Customer Phone Center, will close at 4 p.m. each day this week and next Monday due to parking, traffic and transit restrictions for Mardi Gras parades in the area.
