Look up your account number now The Sewerage and Water Board wishes to express deep concern for all whose lives have been impacted by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. We are doing everything we can on behalf of our customers to resume normal operations. We are pleased to report that as of Thursday, October 6, 2005 the "BOIL WATER" order for the city of New Orleans was lifted by the Department of Health and Hospitals for all areas of the city west of the Industrial Canal. On December 8, 2005 the boil water order was lifted for N.O. East, Southshore and Venetian Isles. Not included is Lower 9th Ward in zip code 70117. Customers are advised to run the "HOT" and "COLD" taps for approximately 15 minutes to allow for the removal of any sedimentation from their pipes. Also, customers are advised that they may notice a greater presence of chlorine in the water. The Westbank of New Orleans continues to have potable drinking water. It is safe to drink, to use for personal hygiene and all other purposes.
