Media Advisory

The entire East Bank of Orleans Parish will experience low water pressure until further notice due to the loss of one of two major pumps at the New River Intake Station near the East Bank Water Treatment Plant.

The pump went out of service at 3:45 this morning when the station lost power from Entergy. One pump remained in service, but water pressure coming out of the treatment plant was reduced, affecting pressure throughout the system.

Sewerage and Water Board crews have restored the pump, but pressure will remain low until the water elevation at the treatment plant can be brought up to normal levels.
