Sewer Force Main Break

The Sewerage and Water Board reports that a 16" sewer force main broke at or around 8:00 p.m. Sunday near 37th and Fleur de Lis Street. Presently Board forces (crews) are attempting to isolate the problem, valve off and draw down the lines involved and make the necessary repair.

The procedures involved in effecting such a repair include closure, containment, repair, collection of the product, and deodorizing the lines. The area impacted by the break is the Lakewiew area. It is expected that there will be no service interruption in the area but there will be a noticeable odor as a result of the break.

Completion of the repair is estimated to be within the next 36 hours.
