Sewerage And Water Board Of New Orleans Water, Sewer, Drainage Update

The Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans issues the following statement update:

Drinking Water

The Eastbank of New Orleans remains under a boil water order. This order remains in effect until approval is given by the Department of Healh and Hospitals (DHH). Currently, the Eastbank Water Treatment Plant is producing 100-136 million gallons per day. Board employees are finding and repairing significant leaks throughout the system. People should be reminded that there is some risk to showering, bathing or washing hands. Drinking the water is not recommended. Again, until all areas or our distribution system are under our control, the boil water order will remain in effect.

The Westbank of New Orleans continues to have potable drinking water. It is safe to drink, to use for personal hygiene and all other purposes.
