New Orleans Utility Seeking Participants for Special Business Program
|
The Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans is seeking qualified
firms to participate in its Economically Disadvantaged Business
Program (EDBP).
Companies owned and controlled by economically disadvantaged
individuals, whose ability to compete in the free enterprise system
has been impaired, may be eligible for participation in contracts
for construction, professional services and goods and services.
The Board operates the water, wastewater and drainage departments
in the City of New Orleans. It has 1,300 employees and a combined
operations and capital budget of $189 million.
Mayor Marc H. Morial, president of the Sewerage and Water Board,
said, "We have a model program which allows qualified firms
to obtain excellent contracts in almost every phase of our operations.
We are proud
that government is able to forge such great relationships with
smaller, growth-oriented companies."
Some of the types of services and construction skills required
by the Board are data processing, computer hardware and software,
stationery supplies, pipe and fittings, demolition, masonry, hauling,
concrete, paving, pipe installation, chemical supplies, security,
sand blasting and painting.
